CHAMPIONS: Dreams FC return to Ghana Premier League
Dreams FC made a triumphant return to the Ghana Premiership for the 2017/18 season with a convincing 3-0 win over visiting Okwahu United at the Theatre of Dreams, Dawu on Sunday.
Technical Director Manuel Zacharias made just two changes to the side that drew with Okyeman Planners in midweek, and indeed he got his tactics right his lads got off to a blistering start against the relegation threatened side.
Dreams found the opener through Zuberu Sharani in the 38th minute, firing home from close range after a rebound from Emmanuel Lomotey’s free kick which rattled against the cross bar.
The second half saw Dreams pushing more men in attack for the second goal to seal the win.
Eric Gawu made a sweet run into the opponent’s box and was brought down a bid to connect to Lomotey’s through play. And though Lomotey had fired off into the net after Gawu’s mishap in the box, the referee awarded the infringement and disallowed the goal. The experienced striker again stepped up and calmly converted the penalty for Dreams’ second goal in the 70th minute.
Winger Samuel Pimpong was replaced by Benjamin Ayim in the 77th minute and Ayim made an early impression as he set up Eric Gawu for the 3rd goal in the 80th minute with a fantastic cross.
With barely seven minutes to go, Aruna Ginaid replaced Eric Gawu and the later could have made it four but fluffed his effort off target after showing great strength and composure.
Dreams FC held on to the 3-0 win until the referee blew his whistle for the end of the game.
Heart of Lions’ defeat to Young Wise means Dreams FC have opened up a nine-point gap at the top with two games to the end of the season.
