Match Report: Bechem Utd 2-1 Dreams FC

Dreams FC’s hopes of returning to winning ways in Matchweek 6 of the Ghana Premier League was not to be as we were beaten 2-1 away at Bechem Utd on Wednesday.

This result means we are winless in our last three games.

Bechem Utd piled the pressure from the whistle as they took control of the game and dominated possession.

It was not surprising as they fashioned out the first chance of the game with a square pass that met their striker at the far post but goalkeeper Philemon MacCarthy was quick to block the shot at the near post.

Soon after it was our turn to create our own chance as Eric Gawu played Zuberu Sharani through on goal but the ball drifted wide and Sharani’s shot was parried away. Gawu got the opportunity to shoot on the rebound but he shot well wide.

The game slowed a bit after that but it was Bechem Utd who opened the scoring close to the end of the half when Konkoni lobbed the ball over MaCarthy at close range.

The half was set to end in favor of Bechem Utd but SHarani had other ideas as he rounded the Bechem Utd goalkeeper in a counter attack to score his third goal of the season and the equalizer to end the half.

The second half had a frantic start as Bechem Utd took the early initiative and scored the second goal to take a 2-1 lead; Konkoni again deflecting a shot into the Dreams FC goal.

The goal rattled Dreams FC but quickly regained composure to find the equalizer and it nearly happened as Sharani once again was on the end of a long ball from defence but the goalkeeper did well to block the shot with his leg.

Three minutes of added time was not enough as we succumbed to our second defeat of the season

With this result, Dreams FC now drop to 7th place and will face Asante Kotoko next in Dawu.
