Match Report: WAFA 5-0 Dreams FC
Our three-game winning came to an end on Saturday as we suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of WAFA at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope.
This was a game we failed to at least show a glimpse of our good form from the previous weeks.
We kicked off the first half and almost instantly looked shaky as we left gaps at the back anytime we surged forward and which exposed us to several counter attacks from the home team.
And it took only 3 minutes for us to be punished by a counter attack as Justice Amate got on the end of a good run to neatly slot in the opener beyond Isaac Amoako.
We continued to struggle to hold off the threat from WAFA and almost managed to go into the dressing room at half but it was not to be as we fell victim to yet another counter attack and this time, Richard Danso followed up his good run from midfield with a powerful shot from the edge of the box which went off the lower side of the bar and into the net.
The second half started in similar fashion as the first. The jitters failed to get off us as we continued to give the ball away easily with faulty passes.
We paid dearly for it in the 63rd minute with Charles Boateng scoring his first of the day and the third for WAFA.
But before that, Zuberu Sharani had the opportunity to halve the deficit after a mix up between a WAFA defender and his goalkeeper but Sharani’s lobbed shot went inches wide off the post.
Alhassan was the next to get in on the action for WAFA in the 87th minute as his long range attempt found it’s way to the back of the net to everyone’s surprise.
Our fate was finally sealed 2 minutes later when Charles Boateng again got on the end of a beautiful pass to slot in the 5th goal and his second of the game.
Despite this loss, we still remain second on the league log going into matchday 11.
