DFC GLOBAL: John Antwi in poll for top SWAG award

Ex Dreams FC striker John Antwi is among the nation’s top male footballers for the year 2018 after being named in a 5-man shortlist for Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) award.

Antwi who currently plays for Egyptian Premier League side Misr El Makkasa had an impressive year in 2018 as his 64 goal haul last December shot him to the limelight as the highest scoring foreigner in the North African league.

Having moved from Al Ahly from an initial loan deal to a 3 year permanent deal, John Antwi has been the live wire of the Cairo based outfit scoring 9 times in 14 appearances.

Athletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey, Kotoko goalie Felix Annan, Kassim Nuhu of  German club, Hoffenheim, and Joseph Aidoo of  Genk are four others who would be battling the Egypt-based striker for the prestigious award.

The 2013/14 Egyptian goal king netted 16 goals in 29 appearances last season providing six assists as his side finished second in the Egyptian League.
