#GFASC: Dreams pip Dwarfs in Dawu
A determined Dreams FC recorded it’s first win in the ongoing GFA Special Competition after a lone goal victory over Ebusua Dwarfs at the Theatre of Dreams,Dawu on Wednesday night.
A strike from penalty spot in the 68th minute by Razak Cromwell was enough to secure all three points at stake for the Still Believe lads.
As expected, the visitors begun the game with a high pressing formation in search of a goal as they yearned to make amends after a winless streak in the opening round of games of the competition.
Despite creating several chances, the home side failed to capitalise on the home advantage in the first half as the game end 0 – 0 at recess, and a sparse home crown yearning for more.
Rising fullback Philemon Baffour nearly opened the scores at Dawu after his effort on the stroke of the hour mark struck the woodwork with Dwarfs goalie completely beaten on his lines.
Minutes later striker Michael Amoah had the chance to tap home the opener but missed out from just five yards, drawing a frustrating reaction from the technical bench.
Manager Pasoja was finally given a breather in the 67th minute when striker Eric Gawu’s shot on goal was struck down by the arm of a Dwarfs defender and referee Desbmond Abbey was at the spot to point to the penalty box.
Razak converted to put Dreams FC in the lead but Dwarfs were not ready to go down without a fight, threatning the opponents goal area on several counter attacks.
With about 5 minutes on the clock, the rains descended heavily to make playing conditions difficult as both sides struggled to build-up play until 90 minutes of regulation football elapsed.
The results mean Dreams FC move up the league log to the 5th position while Dwarfs continue to dwell at the bottom of the table.
Dreams FC play as guests to Tema-based Inter Allies in a match week five fixture on Thursday afternoon.
