Match Report: G8 – Aduana Stars 1 – 0 Dreams FC

A 40th minute header from Fatao Abdul Manan made the difference for Aduana Stars as Dreams FC made a gallant return to top flight action on Saturday afternoon.

The game which was the opening fixture for Group A of the ongoing GHALCA G8 competition lived up to the billing as Dreams gave Ghana’s CAF Champions League representatives a tough encounter.

Manager Karim Zito paraded four new signings in his starting lineup, giving the squad a new look ahead of the 2017/18 premier league season.

Dreams FC showed prowess and dominance in midfield with Patrick Arthur, Leonard Owusu and Cletus making a perfect combination for a possessive game with a 3-5-2 formation.

Dreams FC nearly found the opener in the 20th minute after Arthur curled one into the box but strikers Sharani and Gawu lost out to the Aduana defense.

The goal was a blow to Zito’s lads who had the game under control all afternoon until the defense was caught ball watching from an Aduana corner.

A lot changed for the visitors in the second half but had scary moments in defense with Aduana taking advantage of counter attack situations.

Dreams FC shot stopper Ishawu Yahaya had a busy day at work in the second half. His bravery and reflex denied Nathaniel Asamoah from grabbing a second for the Dormaa lads as his effort was parried for a corner.

With the game tempo at it’s peak, Dreams made several attacks but failed to really test goalkeeper in post for Aduana Stars.

Not much changed as Aduana sunk in defense to protect the one-goal lead until referee Charles Bulu signaled for the end of proceedings after 93 minutes of thrilling soccer action.

Dreams FC play Asante Kotoko in the second group fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday.
