Sharks visit Dawu for first test against superlative Dreams FC
All is finally set for the much awaited 2017/18 GPL matchday 1 game between Dreams FC and Elmina Sharks this Sunday at the Theatre of Dreams, Dawu on Sunday.
It’s a battle that would pit two of nation’s best new sides against each other. Dreams FC have looked impressive in pre-season following their win in the GHALCA organized G-8 Competition.
The Still Believe lads strolled through the pre-season competition by recording some amazing results against giants Asante Kotoko ,Medeama and Accra Hearts of Oak in Cape Coast Stadium.
Coach Karim Zito is however sweating on the fitness of some key members of his squad. The likes of James Wiafe Iniesta, Sharani Zuberu, Emmanuel Hayford, and Maxwell Arthur are nursing various degrees of injuries and could miss the season opener at home. But things could change for the better within the next few hours before the game. Coach Abdul Karim Zito would rely on the experience of Eric Gawu to lead the charges in Sunday’s game. The former Accra Hearts of Oak and King Faisal striker has played a key role in the team’s success since he joined in 2015. Gawu scored 13 goals last season in the National Division One League to qualify Dreams FC back into the Premier League. Coach Zito is blessed with a quality squad that can record impressive results on any day. Captain Leonard Owusu is set to take the competition by storm in his what seems like his major outing in the Ghanaian top flight. The talented midfielder is buzzing with loads of energy and optimism going into the campaign. He is expected to carry the team on his shoulders and lead the lads out there as Dreams FC seeks an immaculate start to life in the Premier League. The experience of Godfred Asante, Massahudu Abdullahi, Issah Yakubu, complimented by the enterprising Razak Cromwell and Patrick Arthur is something that inspires hope for the teaming fans of Dreams Football Club.
Coach Zito will be looking forward to a bright start to the campaign but he cannot leave anything to chance due to the quality of the opposition. Elmina Sharks sold some beautiful football in their maiden appearance in the Ghana Premier League. They have made a lot of good additions to the Squad and underrating them could come back to haunt Dreams FC. One player to look out for in the Sharks squad is Benjamin Tweneboah who was the clubs best player at the end of last season and they have a good player in him. Sharks also have several other players who performed creditably in their maiden campaign like Emmnauel Ampiah, Joseph Mensah and Isaac Quainoo who were part of the squad that finished ninth last season. They have recruited Winger Richard Mpong from Aduana Stars, midfielder Ofoe Ofotsu has also come in from Liberty professionals while Sampson Eduku, a player who made a name for himself in last season’s National Division One League in Zone Two has come in from new boys Karela FC.
This is a game that promises to be cagey and epic as the two sides look adequately prepared for the League. It’s a must Watch.
