Match Report: Sharani strikes late to slay Sharks
A late Zuberu Sharani strike was enough to earn Dreams FC a winning return to the Ghana Premier League at the expense of a formidable Elmina Shark’s side.
This was the first Premier League game at the Theatre of Dreams since 2016 and it never lacked drama.
Dreams FC started the game the better of the two sides; dominating play from the onset but just lacked the killer instinct to open the scoring.
A quality save by Elmina Sharks goalkeeper, Joseph Essam , denied Dreams a first half lead.
Elmina Shark’s gradually crawled their way back into the game and had a chance of their own to open the scoring but goalkeeper Isaac Amoako was alert to stop the shot spectacularly.
The first half ended goalless with each side cancelling the other’s tactics out.
The second half started in the opposite way the first half did with Sharks dominating the exchanges in the opening minutes but creating close to nothing in terms of chances.
Dreams regained their composure and took charge of the game bidding their time for the goal.
It all looked set to end in a frustrating draw for Dreams FC but Sharani had other ideas as he struck beautifully from the edge of the Sharks 18 yard box to give Dreams a very late lead in the 90th minute.
An additional five minutes was not enough for Sharks to recover from the shock as Dreams secured all 3 points.
Up next is an away fixture versus Berekum Chelsea at the Berekum Golden City Park next weekend.
