Match report – Berekum Chelsea 1-1 Dreams FC

  • Berekum Chelsea snatched a last minute equalizer to deny Dreams FC a well-deserved win at the Golden City Park in Berekum on Sunday afternoon.

Dreams FC exhibited some exhilarating football throughout the game but it was rather unfortunate that a last minute goal denied the team of the win.

The last time Dreams FC played at this ground, they lost by 3 goals to nothing so the players came into this match knowing the difficulty of the task ahead.

Dreams FC took the game by the scrap of the neck right at the start of the game; dominating the early exchanges.

But it was Berekum Chelsea who got the first chance of the game with a free kick but goalkeeper Isaac Amoako was on hand to palm the ball away. The resulting counter attack gifted Eric Gawu with a one on one chance with the Berekum Chelsea goalkeeper but he could only shoot into the goalkeeper’s hands.

Dreams FC continued to dominate and it was the turn of Patrick Arthur to test the Berekum Chelsea keeper but his rebound shot from the edge of the box was parried on to the left post.

Berekum Chelsea failed to make any other meaningful incursions as the Dreams FC defence stood firm to take the game into the halftime at goalless.

The second half started the same time the first did as Dreams FC began to dominate again and it paid off in the 52nd minute when Samuel Pimpong slotted in the opener from a Maxwell Arthur cross.

There were several penalty appeals from the Berekum Chelsea players after the goal but it all fell to deaf ears.

All looked set to be a win for Dreams FC but Berekum Chelsea had other ideas as they snatched an equalizer in the final minute if injury time.
