Player Ratings – Bechem Utd 2-1 Dreams FC

Striker Zuberu Sharani’s third goal of the season was not enough as we succumbed to our second defeat of the season on Wednesday in Matchweek 6 of the Ghana Premier League.

Two goals by Bechem Utd’s Konkoni in each half and on either side of Sharani’s goal did the damage as we went down 2-1 at the Nana Gyeabour Park in Bechem.

Here’s how the players fared in the match.

Philemon MacCarthy – 3/5

He came in for Isaac Amoako for this one and didn’t look out of place. He did well to prevent an early lead for Bechem Utd in the first half. There was much little he could do about the goals.

Montari Kamaheni – 3/5

He replaced Razak Cromwell at left back and had a pretty good game. His runs on the flank were good and did a good job defensively too.

Maxwell Arthur – 2.5/5

There was a little spark missing from his performance yesterday as he struggled to contain the marauding wingers of Bechem Utd. His runs up field and crosses were spot on as usual.

Issah Yakubu – 3/5

He stood tall in defence and was very dominant in the air against the Bechem Utd attackers.

Abdulai Massaudu – 4/5

He had a very good game at centre back. He was always on hand to thwart several Bechem Utd attacks. The middle of defence was impenetrable with his presence and the opponent had no option than o switch to the flanks.

George Dwubeng – 3/5

He is gradually getting in his strides as he marshalled the midfield well and shielded the defence. His passes too were good.

Patrick Arthur – 3/5

Patrick played at his usual best in midfield. He pushed up the field well when he had to and provided the extra protection for the back four when the ball was against us. He was lucky not to be sent off in the first half as he went into a late rash challenge.

Leonard Owusu – 3.5/5

The captain returned to the lineup after an injury lay off and showed why he had been missed. His touches were perfect. His control and composure on the ball was unmatched and he passed the ball very well.

Kwadwo Asamoah – 3.5/5

He worked his socks off in the game as he was all over the pitch. His marauding runs were trouble for the Bechem Utd defence and he was fouled consistently.

Zuberu Sharani – 3.5/5

He proved to be a handful on the counter attack. He did well to equalize late in the first half after rounding the goalkeeper. He could have had a hat trick but the Bechem Utd goalkeeper showed great awareness to deny him.

Eric Gawu – 3.5/5

He was often isolated up front but was always on hand to trouble the centrebacks of Bechem Utd each time the ball was floated over to him for a counter. He could have had a goal of his own but scoffed a rebound shot wide.
