Match Report: Dreams FC 1-0 Asante Kotoko
Dreams FC returned to winning ways on Sunday as we struck late to sting Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.
The matchweek 7 fixture of the Ghana Premier League was a game Dreams FC had to win as the team had been winless in the last four games and we did it in grand style.
The first had a frantic start as both sides tried to take an early lead but it was Dreams FC who got the clearest opportunity as Zuberu Sharani found himself through on goal but failed to make clean contact with the ball as the Kotoko defender came in at the depth with a timely tackle.
The game balanced out as it wore on with each side failing to create any proper chance. Both sides defence looked resolute and very hard to crack down.
The first half ended with both sides failing to break the deadlock.
The second half had an identical start as the first but it was Kotoko who looked the sharpest as they created two chances in quick succession to open the scoring: one whisked just wide and Isaac Amoako made a fine save from the other.
Dreams FC gradually regained control of the game and made some incursions into the opponent’s half but failed to create something good.
A penalty shout later on was ignored by the referee as substitute Richard Addae went down in the box from a shove from the Kotoko defender.
It all looked to end in another frustrating draw but a sweet one-two between Leonard Owusu and George Dwubeng sent the latter one-on-one with the Kotoko goalkeeper and he reacted fast to slide the ball home for the opener in the final minute of playing time.
With this result Dreams FC now move back up t the fifth position with 11 points.
