Samed plays through pain to see Starlets to finals
Still Believe’s Abdul Samed played through the pain to help the Ghana U17 into the finals of the WAFU Zone B Africa Cup qualifying tournament on Wednesday.
The Black Starlets rallied from a goal down to beat their close neighbours in epic fashion in Niamey.
Left-back Abdul Samed played through the pain as he sustained an injury to his arm which was heavily strapped after the match.
Goals from Omar Mohammed and Tophic Shaibu proved enough to hand Karim Zito’s side the vital win.
Ghana will now face bitterest rivals Nigeria in the grand finale of the tournament on Sunday.
The winner of this contest will qualify to play at next year’s Africa Cup to be staged in Tanzania.
