Dreams FC was established in 2009 and earned promotion to the second tier of the Ghanaian football league system in 2014. The club qualified for the Ghana Premier League in 2015 by winning Zone 3 of the Division One League. For the 2015–16 football season, Dreams FC relocated its home ground to Dawu to meet the Ghana Football Association’s Club Licensing System requirements.
The club features a first team, commonly referred to as Stage 1, and a youth team known as Stage 2. Players in Stage 1 are recognized as first team members and compete in the Ghana Premier League, managed by Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey. Stage 2 serves as a feeder team for Stage 1, operating under the names Still Believe FC and In God We Trust FC.
In 2018, the club secured its first domestic trophy, the GHALCA G8, under the management of Abdul Karim Zito, triumphing over Accra Hearts of Oak with a comeback victory of 2-1.
In the 2022/23 season, Dreams FC clinched the MTN FA Cup trophy at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, defeating King Faisal 2-0.
Furthermore, in the 2023/24 season, Dreams FC made its debut in the CAF Confederation Cup, successfully advancing from the preliminary round after drawing with Kallon FC of Liberia to qualify for the Group Stage of the tournament.
Dreams FC finished at the top of its group with 12 points, moving on to the quarter-finals, where they faced Stade De Malien of Mali and progressed to the semi-finals. However, they were eliminated by Zamalek of Egypt in the second leg held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
